Our Services

What We Offer

Whatever your dog needs, from a quick tidy-up to their very first visit, there's an appointment built around them.

01

Full Groom

A complete wash, dry, trim and finish suited to your dog's coat and breed, done at a pace that keeps them settled throughout. Your dog leaves brushed through, tidy and comfortable, not rushed out the door.

02

Bath & Brush

A thorough wash, blow-dry and brush-out for dogs who need freshening up between full grooms, or don't need a trim at all. It's ideal after muddy walks or during a heavy shed, and your dog goes home clean and soft.

03

Nails & Ears

A short, focused appointment covering nail clipping and ear cleaning, checked carefully before anything is touched. It suits dogs who find a full groom too much, or owners who just want the fiddly bits kept on top of between visits.

04

A Puppy's First Groom

A gentle, unhurried introduction to being handled, brushed and bathed, with nothing rushed and no clippers unless your puppy is ready for them. The aim is a good first experience, so grooming feels normal rather than frightening from then on.

About Us

One Dog at a Time, Properly Done

Muddy Paws started with a simple idea: one dog at a time, no rush, no pen full of barking strangers. Every appointment is booked separately, so your dog gets their own time on the table, not squeezed in between six others. That matters most with nervous dogs, and with puppies coming in for their first groom, when a bit of patience early on shapes how they feel about grooming for years to come. The team is fully insured and properly trained, and it shows in the small things: how a dog is lifted onto the table, how nails are checked before they're touched, how a bath is timed to the dog rather than the clock. Based in Bristol, the salon works with dogs of every breed, coat and temperament, from wiry terriers to soft-coated spaniels. Owners often say their dog walks in calmer each visit, which is the whole point.

FAQs

Common Questions

How long does an appointment take?+

Most full grooms take around an hour, sometimes a little more for thicker or longer coats. Because dogs are booked one at a time rather than in a queue, a nervous or slower dog simply gets the time they need.

My dog is anxious around grooming. Can you still help?+

Yes, this is a big part of why appointments are one-to-one rather than a full salon of dogs at once. We go at your dog's pace, build in breaks if needed, and if a full groom is too much on the day we'll talk through options like a shorter session instead.

What age should my puppy be for their first groom?+

Once vaccinations are complete and your puppy is used to being handled at home, they're usually ready. Early visits are kept short and calm on purpose, focused on getting your puppy comfortable with the process rather than a full finished style.

Do I need to bring anything with me?+

Just your dog, on a secure lead or in a carrier if they're small. If your dog has any medical conditions, skin sensitivities or recent injuries, mention these when you book so the groom can be adjusted.

How often should my dog be groomed?+

It depends on breed and coat type, but most dogs do well with a full groom every six to eight weeks, with a bath and brush in between if they're prone to mud or shedding. We're happy to suggest a schedule that suits your dog when you come in.
